Acrylic optical fiber successfully processed
Profile has added acrylic optical fiber to its list of components that can be encapsulated in its extrusions. This work was a particular challenge given that our customer needed the fiber extruded inside a material with processing temperatures 100F in excess of the melting temperature of the fiber, and 200F above the maximum service temperature of the fiber while preserving the optical properties. The parts also included multiple other components to be extruded inside the profile. However, in typical fashion, the Profile team accepted the challenge, and found a way to meet the needs of the customer. We now have the capability to include solid or stranded wires in a variety of materials, shaped wire, optical fiber, and fiberglass rod in your parts. And as always we are ready to try anything else you may wish to put inside your extrusions. Profile Plastics adds 3 axis CNC routing capability
Profile recently purchased a 3 axis CNC router capable of performing complex fabrication operations. This further adds to our ability to provide our customers added value in their parts. With programming and fixture design capability in-house, and our ability to produce high quality complex parts, our customers can now get parts with complex hole patterns, slots, pockets, steps and a multitude of other configurations. With the automatic tool-changing capability of the router, almost anything is possible. And as with the other fabrication capabilities Profile offers like punching, bending, printing or embossing, customers can get all of these options very cost-effectively while avoiding the time and cost of dealing with multiple suppliers.
