Profile Plastics has added acrylic optical fiber to its list of components that can be encapsulated in its extrusions. This work was a particular challenge given that our customer needed the fiber extruded inside a material with processing temperatures 100F in excess of the melting temperature of the fiber, and 200F above the maximum service temperature of the fiber while preserving the optical properties.
